We are a design team working together in the US since the early 1980s. In 1987 we moved from central coast California to the central coast of Maine. Paul has an architectural practice and Sharon has a unique antique business specializing in 18th and 19th century textiles and furnishings. Paul grew up in the inner city of Chicago, in a Polish ghetto. A city of architecture, public sculpture, culture and diversity, the big city was always a comfortable place full of stimulation, excitement and challenge.

Vinalhaven is only a ferry ride away. From the Rockland Ferry Terminal the trip is an hour and fifteen minutes to the island. There are six ferry departures daily: the first at 7:00 am and the last one back at 4:30pm. If you are coming for the day there is no need to bring a car. Vinalhaven is an easy island to walk and bike around.
Our apartments are located in Provence, the Luberon, dotted with chateaus and early farms, open and lush with vineyards, olive and fruit tree orchards, fields of lavender and sunflowers. The markets of Provence are a necessity of life. We shop the peasant markets everyday of the week bringing back to our kitchen fresh, locally grown, vegetables, cheese, bread and wine.
We always buy throughout the winter months in France, Italy and sometimes England. We look for antique homespun textiles and furnishings from the 18th and 19th century that appeal to our design esthetic. The items that appeal must be simple, useful and full of "soul". We love looking for and working with authenticity.
Paul studied architecture in the southwest in the 1960's. The emphasis of his education was not on style but on process and context. He was fortunate to have studied the work of Frank Lloyd Wright and to have Poalo Solari as a lecturer. He learned, in the harsh Arizona desert, to respect the building site, orientation, its' context (be it rural or urban) and the impact the environment has on that site and on the completed structure. As a young architect, Paul started his practice in central coast California at the age of 31.
