The Plains Historic Inn was was a unique experience. I loved the theme of each room by the decades. My girlfriend and I were planning on spending the night in the 1930's room but upon arrival a bridal party was getting ready in our room! The Inn keeper sorted everything out for us and arranged for us to stay in the 50's room instead which was no big deal for me.
I also liked the nice detail of the continental breakfast. However, I think the Inn could improve on a few aspects. 1) the WiFi was very week and only seemed to work in the main room. 2) the walls were very thin and I could hear everything our neighbors were doing. They woke up at 5AM, so we woke up at 5AM. It would be very courteous of the Inn to provide ear plugs. 3)Lastly, not a complaint, but I think the ability to book the rooms online would make reserving rooms easier. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are well worth the money and would probably book here again if I'm ever in Plains due to how unique the Inn is.

It was a must stop for sure. coming from the Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield MO. We were able to stay in the 1950 room. The accommodation were Great. Helen check us in then meet Ellen the next day, Wonderful women. By the way the antiques store below has many interesting things. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting on the balcony of the Inn. Hope to stay again if there's vacancies.

Wonderful place. We stopped off here in back in November, having specifically read about it years ago in an in-flight magazine. Really enjoyed our stay. Each of the rooms is decorated in a different style, representing the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and then there's the presidential suite, complete with period furnishings (I'll upload pictures at some point).
At the time we were staying we managed to get the presidential suite which in itself was awesome, and they were nice enough to leave the other rooms open so we could wander in and look at them. The rooms themselves have a wonderful charm and quirkiness - but don't go expecting hot tubs and on-demand movies, this is a historical place. There's also a little communal area for your breakfast and to have tea/coffee, complete with a 2nd floor patio to sit and watch the world go by.
The check in staff in the store below are wonderfully helpful and can provide you with lots of information on the town of Plains (and of course the Carters). The museum is definitely worth a visit. Quaint and quirky place that's worth a stay for a day or two. (There's not too much in the town, I don't even recall a bar as such, but there is a cafe/restaurant in the block the hotel is on).

What a wonderful place and right downtown Plains. We stayed on Christmas Eve and the rooms were so lovely all decorated for Christmas. The inn is so comfortable and beautifully appointed with interesting antiques. I stayed in the 1920's room and it was perfect. Everyone was so friendly. We had everything we needed to be comfortable. Stay there if you go to Plains. It is a part of the experience of being in that sweet, south Georgia village. Yep, we got to be with Jimmy Carter for Sunday School. It was a perfect Christmas.
