La Maison Fine Antique Etc

Be forewarned, terrible place to do business with! Purchased a table via phone transaction from out of town and was not able to use it and pick up. I called 4 days later and apologized for the error and ask them to credit my card. They refused and said, "had you called the day after" we would have credited you and then proceeded to tell me all sales are final.

I even offered to pay credit card processing fees and still no refund of a significant purchase amount. After months of going back and forth, I filed suit in Memphis court because I was never given a receipt or told "all sales final" over the phone. 6 months later, the table I bought and paid for on my Amex was sold to another customer at another antique store across town while under litigation!

We went to court in Memphis and had a trial a year after the purchase. Judge ruled they were at fault for not giving me a receipt or notifying me of any "foreseen" charges that would incur for storage. However, because the vendor wanted reimbursement for "storage" fees, judge did give him some compensation, even though they provided no proof of storage fees in court.

Good news is that a majority of my money was refunded due to judge ruling in my favor. Greedy, lack customer service and just plain old dishonest handling of the entire situation by this business and the dealer inside this store. I have their testimony in court that I never received a receipt or was told all sales final. As I exited the court room, dealer looked at me with a scorn look and said "you got lucky"! Oh really.no I just stood my ground against greedy old man. Stay away from this place!

My wife bought a beautiful antique dining room table from this establishment. The two men working the front desk couldn't have been nicer, even helping us load it out and wrapping it in cellophane for the ride home. Very conversational and super nice. This is the second item she has purchased from there and we drove down from Kentucky to do so.

A wonderful place for antique shopping and furniture. Owner is very nice and sociable with his customers. I'll be back. I am going to make this a regular stopping place to see what they have thats new! My wife loves it too.

I happened to stop in randomly one day, and I discovered the most beautiful oriental-style desk I have ever seen, generously adorned with porcelain geisha girls, shown dancing and playing mahjong. I was in love at first sight! It even came with a beautiful black chair, decorated with the same detail as the desk, with a beautiful red cushion. I saw the price tag, and it said $900, but I was told everything in its section was half off and I was immediately intrigued.

I'm only 19 years old and about to move into a brand new place with the man I love for the first time, and it seemed as though the desk found me. I did some more searching in the store and loved everything I saw. I came back to look at the desk one more time and a kind man approached me and told me that if I purchased the desk today, he'd let it go for 300!

I was ecstatic! Everyone was incredibly kind and they even held the desk for a few days, and then helped me load it into my vehicle, with smiles on their faces no less! By far the nicest store employees I've ever come across! I am so thankful that I happened upon this beautiful store and my find there made me so excited to decorate the remainder of my new home!

I looked the desk up later on on the internet just with key descriptive words, and I found desks that had much less detail, for $2500+, and I never saw an exact replica of it after searching for about 40 minutes! It was one of a kind, and one of the best purchases I've ever made!

Great place! Bought an unusual mosaic piece, a wonderful shell, a gorgeous geode and a pillow.

This is a very "rich people, money to spend" kind of store. Yet they were very nice to me, the young looking girl speed walking through the store because they have nothing I collect. They do have one small area in the very back of the store with Elvis stuff and I was like yes! This is what real people are looking for! But not me lol. So this store is not for most folks. It has mostly furniture and furnishings.

I love this store! I only wish I still lived in Memphis & could stop in every week. The prices are so much less than I would expect!

I was very pleased with all that I saw in this antique shop. It was not a junk shop at all. They had more furniture& Home Decor items rather than a lot of trinket type things. I would say it was more of an upscale antique shop but it wasn't ridiculously priced. They also carry things that had a lot of vintage look to them but we're not antiques. I happened to be there when they had a big sale and it was great!

Not going to lie not the best experience I have ever had inside a store. The blonde who sits at the front was very rude and callous. I asked about selling a Antique and she disregarded that statement and acted like I wasn't a consumer/customer of the products lined in the store. I guess because of my age and what I was wearing made me easily right-off-able. Not the place to shop. #Don'tJudgeABookByItsCover.

I love, love, love La Maison and have been shopping there for years! I would highly recommend going there and see all the beautiful antiques, furniture, accessories as well as lighting. The "eye candy" is just on going! The folks that work there are precious too. A must see!

This is the place to be for awesome art at an economical price! We even do commissions. Come in to see what you can have at less than a decorators price.

This Collection of Antiques is large, varied and full of unexpected fine treasures from Oushak runners, Fortuny pillows, Baccarat crystal sconces to warm comfy sofas, candles and even frozen dinners since one spent so much time shopping there! The dealers are the best in Memphis. The owners are charming and go out of their way to assist with all details. Anne J

Like to see what out their and looking at repurposed furniture

I thought this store was fantastic until I made a purchase. Everyone was so friendly until it all went bad. First, I was charged sales tax and should not have been because my item was shipped out of state. I begged for the sales receipt and was sent two different versions.yikes --what's up with that? Second, my item came very damaged! Needless to say. I'm starting to get upset.

I tried to call the store for help on both accounts and was promised by Linda (a co-owner) that I would get a tax refund (never happened). My table is still damaged and sits in the middle of my house -- an antique with modern damage! All in all, the experience was terrible, southern charm gone. Had to hire an Attorney. I would absolutely not recommend this store to anyone ever.

La Maison is a little antique shop right off Poplar. Though I do not like this type of antique store (think totally rehabbed and pretty antique items) I will be the first to say they do it well. The way in which they went about rehabbing all these items is probably exactly how I would have had I purchased them and done it myself. That's my only problem.

I want to do it myself- that's the fun in it! I also much prefer the prices of the do it yourself antiques. I don't want to pay you to rehab my antique finds. It simply defeats the purpose. La Maison has some seriously cute furniture, mirrors and jewelry. I spied quite a few items I'd love to have, but Seeing as how I will not be spending $10,000 on a vintage chest anytime in the near future, I probably won't be back to this little place till I win the lottery.
