Zero if that is the worst rating I could give any merchant. Fredric is deceitful, dishonest and a rude bully. He misrepresented the manufacturer of a light fixture and also modified the fixture.drilled holes to let out heat from bulbs. Not standard code. He told me that once I put up the fixture you would not be able to see the wholes. After terrible exchange of emails and requests for a return and credit.
I finally contacted my credit card company and was made whole. Do not go to this merchant! In some of the emails he called me self absorbed, and a narcissist.only because I wanted what was represented to me I only posted a star to get this rating on Yelp

I walked into Dispela a couple days ago looking for a staple piece for my bedroom. Excited that stores in my area are re-opening slowly. I simply asked (assuming the store owner) if he had ottomans and he looked at me paused, and said "it's going to be expensive" not knowing who I am, my budget etc. Giving the current climate of our nation, you would think that people would be more cognizant of how you treat customers of all races and colors. Not judging if they can "afford" your furniture. Very very sad. Felt like the 60's. Shameful

Wow, a huge selection of vintage light fixtures and more. The quality and selection is outstanding. Frederic is a pleasure to deal with and will accommodate his customers in every possible way. We have a Spanish home built in 1924 and are currently remodeling our kitchen. Dispela had so many options for sconces it was difficult to choose. Gorgeous items and great service; would highly recommend.

Incredible selection of antique lighting. A bit overwhelming at first as there are lights tucked into every possible bit of wall and ceiling space. So many that we liked, but we settled on the pair of revival style lights we came to see after seeing them online. Federick was very helpful and showed us many other matching pairs he had. We came back for them one week later after he had completely rewired them and made new mica shades for them as well. We will purchase from Dispela again as we slowly add more period lighting fixtures back to our home.

Probably the best antiques store in L.A, and maybe even the U.S! The inventory is huge! My wife and I were looking for an antique Chandelier. We got the best possible service we could have imagined from the owner (Frederick). Very helpful, knows his stuff, great inventory and most of all friendly! We will be back for more furniture soon!

This place is a treasure trove. The store is chock full of antique lights and a smattering of furniture. Lighting is definitely their specialty. There was so much to look at, I had difficulty making a decision. Frederic was very helpful, and once he knew what style of lights I was looking for directed me to many lights I liked. He also had a good eye for the right sizing for what I needed and steered me away from items that would be too big for my kitchen.
He was kind enough to send me a photo of one of the chandeliers I was considering. The prices are a little on the high end, but he has some beautiful period pieces, and many French antiques.

My wife and I had a pleasant experience shopping here last year when we were looking for a unique and out of the ordinary chandelier for our home. Owner, Frederik, was very helpful. They have a great selection of antique lighting fixtures to satisfy just about everyone if you are in the market for that kind of an item.

We've been in acquisition mode on lighting. We recently purchased 3 lamps and we've been trying to find a chandelier as well. We went here to get expertise on our recent lamp purchases, and look at their chandeliers (they have a beautiful Stilnovo chandelier near the front door, that we WERE interested in). We wandered through the shop trying to find someone to help us.
After five minutes of wandering the aisles, as the only customers in the store, we found someone silently stationed, head down, on a computer at a desk in the back. He seemed friendly enough but when we told him we needed expertise on identifying a lamp we'd just acquired, he got very frazzled. We thought identification help, from an expert was not a big ask.but we never got that far.
After a minute or two, we were told we were "wasting his time with a purchase we made elsewhere". He never once got up from his chair, and once it was clear we were burdening him, we left him to his computer. We will be buying our chandelier elsewhere. Perhaps this is a metaphor for where business is now.ignore your in-store customers that "waste your time" and focus on your online business.
His selection is great, but the lack of interest in helping a potential customer, and general unfriendly reception, was shocking. And apparently their lack of service has been years in the making: http://www.yellowbot.com/reviews-dispela-antiques-los-angeles-ca.html

Large selection of light fixtures. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Expensive for what they are, but if you need a vintage light fixture quickly and they have it, it is a great deal. They do their own rewiring of fixtures at the store, so you will almost always be buying a newly wired and safe light fixture. Most of the stuff here isn't my style and I rarely buy lights. But, it is a convenient and well stocked place for antique lights.
They also have some older pieces for wood furniture there. They don't negotiate on prices and I wish they did. No property manager's discount for me. There is one small parking space in the back of the store off the alley. I always use it when I shop there.
