Services
The firm of Accredited Appraisal Associates was founded in 1974 as Emyl Jenkins Appraisals by Emyl Jenkins. Since 1989 the firm has been anchored by Senior Appraiser, Janella Smyth. Ms. Smyth began as a consulting appraiser with the firm in 1979. In 1992 Ms. Smyth and her business partner, Steve Minor, purchased the firm from Ms. Jenkins and continued to operate under the trade name of Emyl Jenkins Appraisals until 1994, at which time the firm name was changed to Accredited Appraisal Associates.Since 2002 the firm has been owned and managed by Ms. Smyth.
Appraisals prepared by the firm of Accredited Appraisal Associates conform to the ethical, methodological and reporting requirements of The Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice (USPAP) as well as the high professional standards set by the American Society of Appraisers. Our commitment to professionalism extends to every aspect of the services that we offer, whether they are appraisal or consulting services.
Accredited Appraisal Associates appraises the full range of personal property for individuals, museums, and businesses across the United States. We make appraisals for scheduling insurance, making charitable donations, and settling estates and distributions, among other purposes. Started in 1974, the firm operates from its base in the Research Triangle Area of North Carolina serving clients both locally and nationally.
The American Society of Appraisers is an organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. International in structure, it is self-supporting and independent. The Society is dedicated to the benefit of the appraisal profession. It is one of eight major appraisal societies which, in 1987, founded The Appraisal Foundation, a national non-profit organization.
