Eve Stone Antiques, Ltd. specializes in 16th-19th century period brass and antique copper, including antique lighting. Monteiths, filled with cool water or ice, were used for chilling wine bottles and cooling or rinsing wine glasses; the latter were inverted and hung from the notched rim. The earliest written mention of monteiths may be by Anthony a Wood, an Oxford diarist writing in 1683.

Services
Eve Stone Antiques, Ltd. was founded in 1970 by Eve Stone. The business is a full time profession for her and her daughter Susan. The first shop we had was in the carriage house of her home on Martha's Vineyard, where she carried a wonderful assortment of English and American country, yet there was always a smattering of copper and brass.
