It was 1985 when Anna's Mostly Mahogany opened its doors in Lake Forest, IL. It was a small storefront that carried high-end American and European home furnishings and accessories. After many successful years in Lake Forest, Anna developed a vision of a marketplace that could combine a variety of dealers as well as her consignment business that was already established up the street in Highwood, IL.

Anna's Antique and Art Consignment was established in 2000 on the North Shore and has remained a successful family-owned business ever since. The company was founded on the concept that there should be an opportunity for those who would like to sell their well taken care of home furnishings and unique accent pieces in a confidential setting without going through the sometimes frustrating process of advertising and having strangers come to their house to view one's private possessions.

Place is super over priced. And I've been antique hunting and picking for 15 years and I will tell you the prices are ridiculous. $275 for sliver PLATED tea set? Those are a dime a dozen. $580 for a painting that is scratched up? $48 for a cut crystal glass which is literally seen at every yard sale and antique place? Oh and let's not forget $67 for a plastic egg you put on your coffee table! Unless you're lazy and mega rich don't shop here. Otherwise the place is pretty and nicely set up, but otherwise it's more like a glorified museum.

I give this place 3 stars because they have a ton of unique and cool stuff. HOWEVER, their prices are just plain and simply ridiculous IN MY OPINION! I went in there for 30-40 minutes and man was shocked! The cheapest thin i found was a tinnnny little old china cup and it was $15.all the way up to some old chinese cabinet that looked like thrift store quality at best and had a sign on it that said dont touch - $8000! Two lamps that were over $895 for the set! Two end tables that were cool but $600 each! Definitely not what I think of when Im thinking of consignment!

This is a consignment store. The vendors have their items extremely overpriced. If you want to spend $800 on a trinket pillar that isn't even mahogany (just stained/ painted) or a dining set that's not even vintage for like $4k, then this place would be like heaven to you. Staff weren't very friendly either.
