At Hanifin's Arts and Antiques we really enjoy selling nice things to our wonderful customers. We work to make each deal a fair deal. We also like to give things away. We generally give to donations. If you wish to buy antiques at our store we can often arrange shipping locally or across the country. We usually deliver locally to Lake Tahoe, Gardnerville, Reno and Sacramento using my truck.
If you can bring an item into our shop we will be happy to help you establish its value. If you are not able to bring your item into the shop please send us some well lighted digital images to our.

This place doesn't even deserve half a star. I had some items that I wanted to get more information on as well as some items I wanted to sell. I called the store to see when a good time would be to come down and the lady on the phone said to come now. After waiting for 20 min. The owner finally came over and started looking at what I had. Btw. I knew what I had and the value.
He told me three of my items were silver plate (they weren't) so I told him to check again. Of course he was wrong. He told me all of it would be $40. There was a Tiffany & Co. sterling silver tea cup from 1890 as well as a pure coin Kidder cup. Those two pieces alone are worth $2200. Once he found out I wasn't interested in selling everything he said we were were wasting his time and he wasn't going to "write a book" for us about our items and he walked into his office.
One of the employees asked if we got some good information and my husband told her no and he was really rude. He come flying out of his office, cursing, causing a scene, acting like he did us a favor by taking time (8 min.) out of his schedule to talk to us. The worst experience I have ever had. He will belittle your items and rip you off. I do not recommend selling anything to him. You can tell from his store (unorganized and messy)he has zero appreciation for antiques! Such a DISAPPOINTMENT and even worse owner!

If I could give this place a half star, that would be a gift. I recently went into the store to see if I could sell something that belonged to my great-grandmother. I am a senior citizen and down sizing, and my younger sister's family did not want the item. These items sell on Ebay for $350 to several thousand, depending on quality, maker, etc. I was told there was no market for these items, blah blah, and was offered $100, which I took because I thought the store would be the best place for someone to see and appreciate it.
Several days later, my sister and I had seller's remorse; the item was one of the few items we had from that generation, so I went back to the store to see if I could buy it back. I saw it on a shelf for $395. Wow, that's quite a mark up. I told them I wanted to buy it back. I knew I could not get it back for what I sold it for.but they "kindly" knocked off $50! I had to pay $371.20 to get back something after a few days that I had accepted $100 for. Screwed twice, but never again.

Huge selection and knowledgeable. He sold to person for me at 50% commission. Mich better then a galleries 10%. He also appraises easy items for nothing, refurbishes and restores Antique, and Has a lot of great and reasonably priced treasures. He runs a business which some of these other reviewers don't understand. The owner, Michael, can't be expected to know everything but if you are polite and ask him to look further into a piece's authentication then a bargain can be made.
He was also willing to work with us on am item we desired. He wasnt familiar with the artist I brought in but after I insisted that he look into it, he did discover the artist and had my commission payment within a 8 days. They also have friendly restoration and sales people who are also knowledgeable. They are the best in the city, perhaps the region! Thanks again Michael!
