This is an outstanding use of space. Sure, the antique place in a barn seems charming but I'm more impressed by the utilitarian brilliance. It preserves the quaintness and quirkiness you want in a bohemian small town, while providing decent a bathrooms and plenty of outdoor seats. Mudd Puddle coffee is great, someday I hope to get to Johnny's Food Shack and Parish.

And I'm glad to see Rhino Records is still alive! It's also great to have something like this so close to hiking trails. In a world where fake environmentalists promote car culture, and places like Garrison have nice trails next to ghost towns, it's hard to beat the convenience of Water Street to the rail trail and river-to-ridge trails - scenic mountain views a few blocks away from the bus station.

This was my first visit and definitely won't be my last. There were so many lovely items here at the antique shop The prices, for a lot of these. were reasonably priced. I was thrilled to find a decorative plate from Spain, that will be hung up on my wall. Oh! The staff here is wonderful! I was helped by Annie, Walter and Cosmo. They are all keepers! Thank you for having them on your staff!

Small and scenic. Nice place to park, walk the River to Ridge Trail then grab a bite and coffee outdoors.

Nothing beats the Mud Puddle - family owned - great people - love the new do over inside - delicious coffee, tea selection and chai! We love to choose from the menu and either eat out in the courtyard or on the porch.so many memories hanging at the mudd puddle through the years - a fun destination since my daughter was a baby. Thanks Mud Puddle

Great place to visit right off of the rail trail in lower New Paltz located with a nice view of the Mohonk tower. It has nice little eateries and shops, as well as two stone Chess tables with regular Chess pieces to play with friends while enjoying the ambient noise of a small handmade waterfall.

Very cute. Wonderful selection of shops, which bring so many different types of people to the area - all really lovely. Sweet gardens. Shop keepers are all helpful and so pleasant. The walk is very enjoyable. I suggest from there, get an icecream and some water, and go towards the bridge. From there you can stroll along the rivers' edge. It is picturesque and just wonderful. Note: If.you want to go to the top of the mountain to the lookout point from where you can see 5 states, you will need to book online. We didn't and were disappointed. Think it will be great.

Such a cute market place. Lots of lovely shops and the antique shop has some wonderful things at very reasonable prices. Most shops are open - wear a mask. Not far from the market is a lovely little bridge you can walk over. There's also a hiking trail along the river that looks relatively easy.

I loved this whole little area, it is so unique and beautiful with the flowers and the waterfalls! It is such a cute, fun, and unique little area. This antique store is so beautiful! I got a antique Nancy Drew book, a skeleton key, and some wall decor that I am in love with. I would love to return one day soon (we live pretty far and came here coming back from a trip). Definielty go to this Antique store! You won't be disappointed.

Unfortunately we went on a day that was raining and most of the stores were closed or they were coming back several hours later. Some of the internet searches seem to have the wrong hours for many of the stores. I would suggest calling before visiting. We really wanted to check out the antique stores and that was why went but there will have to be a next time.

The market is set up nicely with stores in a row so it's convenient for shopping and checking out multiple places back to back. There is a public restroom and it's relatively in the clean side which I appreciated! Parking is conveniently located in the back right by the entrance way. Loved the Tibetan store and jewelry shop.

Very cute area. One of the highlights of New Paltz is strolling down this street and enjoying the shops. Still obsessing over that plant shop.

Water Street is New Paltz, NY's small waterfront along the Wallkill River. There are clothes shops, theaters, antique stores, a few cafes, benches, a French fry shack, a restaurant upstairs, a mix of wine shops, trinket stores, lingerie, fountains and a t-shirt screening shop. It is a place of leisure. Rebel review: 5

I enjoyed my visit to this small shopping village. It offers so many things to do, see and enjoy. Lots of restaurants, cafe, stores and shops of any kind. The focal point is the big antique shop and the dining spot near the fountain. Come by when in town. Huge parking lot around the center.

Just a really cool market place in town. It's like a small village in here. We stop here every time we're in New Paltz. First, it's to use their clean, air conditioned bathrooms after a long ride. Then, we stroll around and get a bite. Usually, it's in the restaurant on the upper level. There are a variety of stores-a flower shop, bakery, fry shop, antique shop, sandwich shop, a theater, etc. There's plenty of parking too. You'll have to go around the block, toward the back of the complex to access it. There's also a water fountain on the lower level, with some outdoor seating, in case you just want to chill and watch/listen to the water. I really hope all the shops reopen once Covid is over. New Paltz wouldn't be the same without this place.

My favorite part of New Paltz - lots of privately owned shops that you are lured into because the quality is awesome!

This small outdoor market features cafes, a restaurant, and several clothing stores. The cafes are a great place to sit out in the sun on nice days. It makes for a nice place to start off on an exploration of the town. The shops are also a nice little way to spend time partially outdoors and there are some unique things to be found.

I've been here more times than I can count! Some fun you can have here: 1. Rent bikes - ride around New Paltz 2. $HOP! - antiques, jewelry, gifts 3. Eat! - Cheese, organic, local, trendy, hot dogs 4. Drink - smoothies. alcoholic beverages 5. Go to a festival like their Chalk festival or listen to live music 6. Simply walk around and enjoy the small village-like area Perfect for any beautiful day!

This is in a perfect location as you can also wander into the main area of New Paltz for food or drinks as well. This is a walkable small shopping center with local businesses that often have handmade items and unique items. Wn

Wonder shopping center committed to the arts and the community. They constantly hold free events for the community and support mom and pop shops. It is refreshing to be able to walk around without cars and experience diverse shops.

In a word this was simply underwhelming and a disappointment. We are visiting the Poughkeepsie area this week and the Water Street Market sounded like a great little place to visit for an hour or two. Wrong wrong wrong. We arrived a little before 11am on a Tuesday. Only the Antiques Barn and a cafe were open so Do Not believe these 9a to 9p hours!

Maybe those are the hours during the academic year bit certainly not now. The only shop that opened at 11a was Himalayan Arts. Everything else didn't open till 12 or 1pm. Nutty. As well several shops that were listed on their website apparently no longer are in existence - how NOT customer friendly of them. Don't waste your time or gas getting there.

Water Street Market is a cool little spot in the heart of Main Street in New Paltz with several antique shops, food spots, and other assorted places to check out. My wife and I have been through here before but decided to take another stroll through on a Saturday afternoon. If you're looking for some great places to snack, make sure to check out the Fry Shack, Cheese Plate, or Dohnut (have yet to try it, but if you check out the reviews on yelp, people love this place).

If you need a drink, there's a coffee shop and a wine bar available to you as well. Otherwise head into one of the many unique clothes (including a baby specific one) or antique shops along the way. If you're spending the day in New Paltz, this is a can't miss place to check out for sure. The whole town is great and worth spending at least an afternoon in if you never have before.

This assortment of shops, cafes and antique stores was a pleasant surprise right outside the main drag of New Paltz. There were two antique stores, a few gift shops selling clothing, handmade jewelry & glassware, an old fashioned candy store and a great area to sit and relax by a fountain. On a sleepy, hot summer Monday, there were a decent amount of people roaming about.

There are tables with chess boards set up and an overall tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle of downtown New Paltz. It seemed like a great community plaza with an array of interesting retail spaces to browse. Friendly shop keepers and a quaint setting made for an enjoyable visit here.

The Water Street Market was one of my favorite places in New Paltz, actually, I say that a lot about places in New Paltz. That is probably due to the fact that New Paltz is one of my favorite places in the world. And my passport and flyer miles have been earning their keep lately. What is so enchanting about Water Street Market is the sense that it is a micro-village inside of a village. There's art installations, gallerys, delectable cafes, and my favorite antique shop in town (I once bought a gorgeous small blue guitar there).

I spent a lot of my undergrad career coming here alone to soak in the sun and the flavors of New Paltz. I like to think of it as an American styled palazzo. Sitting by the water fountain on a nice spring is something I crave every once and awhile. It's great for people-watching and browsing and trying our delectable local cuisine. It's another place where New Paltz showcases its fabulous artwork and pride in. It is another gem.

Water Street Market is a popular spot for New Paltz townies and college students alike. Throughout my undergrad years, I frequented this little village a lot. Right on the edge of town, WSM offers a nice escape from the college life/campus. And on beautiful days, its a must! Here you'll find an assortment of shops and boutiques with all sorts of knick-knacks and fun items.

A sneak peak of what you'll find: -Cheese Shop -2 antique stores -Donut Shop -Art Gallery -2 cafes -Plenty of small rotating businesses -Restaurant The Mudd Puddle Cafe is a favorite of mine. They have the best hot spiced apple cider which is perfect during the Fall season. And their assortment of baked goods is pretty stellar as well. The big barn/antique store is a piece of art itself.

Of course with any relics, they're going to cost a pretty penny but nonetheless this place is really fun to visit. Back when I was a freshman I brought my family here for "parent & family weekend." They loved it! There's a nice outdoor seating area, small waterfall and even chess tables to enjoy especially during the warmer weather. If you're in the area and looking for a fun excursion I would highly recommend the Water Street Market! You're sure to find some hidden treasures along the way.
