Wonderful visit. Lots of good browsing while food is being prepared. Looking forward to the knitting classes. Stayed for Chicken pot pie and shepherds pie, followed by some scones. Many different choices of tea that welcome a return trip to try more. Kathy is quite welcoming and it is a pleasure to visit for a while and absorb the local news. We were introduced to the Ghana 4E project that Kathy helps, and donates her tips to support. A welcome ray of sunshine into West Africa. Menu is varied and will definitely be back to avail ourselves of the choices

I did not, at this visit, eat any of the fine offerings on their menu or have tea or coffee in their tea room. But, the gracious lady who owns the tea room was very helpful, and I was delighted talking with her. She invited me to come back to write and, read comfortably in her tea room with tables decorated by smooth retro tablecloths -- it's classy.
I am going to take her up on that offer. Atmosphere is good surrounded by antiques, cups and saucers, paintings, frames, dolls, and vintage items. But this is not a dusty old thrift shop. It's clean, well organized, yet vintage. This cafe also hosts an open mic on Friday evenings for musicians and poets. Anyone who is creative will find this place inspiring.
A little oasis. In the coming new year she is planning to add new features, expand, and it could only improve this time capsule. Could be a home away from home for anyone who needs to find their muse. And the proprietor is an intetesting personality. Very likeable.

Kathy's always been rude when I've run into her, & she doesn't even know me. The first encounter was the worst. My husband & I went in there, the door was open, we were just looking around, & she says they're closed. The hours said they were open, but whatever. That was about 4 years ago. I've tried going back there for the music nights, & she's just not my kind of person.
On Facebook, when there are discussions about businesses in downtown, she's very passive aggressive. The business owners in town don't like dealing with her, especially during the Art Walk. The whole vibe she puts off is holier than thou. With what she does for art & other cultures, it'd be nice to get to know her & volunteer with her. But I'll stick to my other sources of volunteering.

This shop is a combination tearoom, antique store, and art gallery. (Their business card says that they also do clock repairs. And the owner mentioned that they do "Tea with the Other Side" -- an afternoon of tea and "messages from the other side" with a local psychic.) I wasn't able to try the tea or food, but the front of the store is set up with tables and chairs and is cute.
They also sell homemade soap and local honey in the front. Way in back was an art gallery space displaying paintings and photos. I spent my time there checking out the antiques and collectibles, which were nicely displayed. There were jewelry, dolls, vintage ceramic planters, an Edison phonograph, vinyl records, framed pictures, clocks and watches, a collection of button-hooks, horn-handled utensils, caramel slag glass, Depression glass, vintage women's hats. a good variety of collectible and antique items.

Adorable, eclectic and reasonably priced. Definitely a must visit shop! The owner was friendly and very helpful. In fact, once we realized she did not have the item we were looking for she gave us the name of a shop in Hackettstown where we might have better luck. That is the hometown service one looks for! We will definitely be back.
