Turns out there are a few (not many) upsides to the pandemic. The biggest one for me is all the cash generated by not doing all the wining and dining I was accustomed to pre-virus. Not to be deterred from keeping it from burning a hole in my pocket, I have done a lot of home improvements. The biggest expenditure over the last year has been floor coverings - the most recent "splurge" was a couple of stunning rugs from Denver's oldest and most reputable dealer in fine textiles and antiques - Sarkisian's. Dangerously close to my home in Speer, the decades old business is now in the capable hands of brothers Medill and Tor.
After sensing some hesitance from Tor (I don't think he sized me up for a buyer) I ended up with Medill and it was a match made in rug heaven. He really went above and beyond. The brothers spent hours showing me their vast inventory (a lot of physical labor involved in that). I was originally only looking for a big rug (9X12) for the dining room but ended up buying one for the living room, too. Medill brought six or eight (memory fails) of these huge, heavy, gorgeous hand knotted rugs to my home, lugged them up stairs and rolled them out on my floors. Whew. Don't be deceived by his size - that boy is a beast.
I really appreciated his willingness to give his opinion not just passing the buck back to me. I'd say we agreed 95% of the time. There were a few hiccups and delays but nothing that was really a problem but I'm impatient and they don't exactly have a big staff so you get personal attention but if you want instant gratification maybe you should be at World 'O Rugs.
End result are two perfect rugs - I mean shockingly perfect for the rooms. Partly luck but mostly Medill keeping me focused (so many choices). Yes, it was $10k but they'll undoubtedly outlive me and they are so beautiful plus the level of service (and some very nice "freebies") made it seem like a very good deal indeed. My past experiences with buying rugs has been sketchy at best - I absolutely trust these guys completely. The Neiman Marcus of rugs! They're all about service, quality and value. My highest 5 star rating ever.

I'll admit, a WHITE high pile wool rug rug was an interesting choice for my house, especially with a dark colored dog who has had several puppy friends come for play dates, but now I can rest assured that it can be cleaned by Sarkisian's! The rug had several drink spills that I had failed miserably at cleaning, so parts of the rug were brown & matted.
There were also a few dog pee stains, so I was sure my rug was ruined! They picked my rug up from my house exactly at the scheduled time, they held the rug for months while I had some remodeling work done, and they delivered it to me as soon as I wanted it back. The rug came back softer, more plush and completely stain free. I was truly amazed!

I spent some time searching for just the right oriental rug in Denver. I went to several stores, some with massive inventories. I was appalled at some stores by the absurdly overvalued sticker prices. They would offer to discount a rug with a $15,000 tag to $10,000, when I knew the rug was worth less than half that. Finally I stumbled on Sarkisian's.
These guys are great. It is a smaller family run operation with an excellect selection and very fair, reasonable prices. They are very friendly and helpful, no high pressure sales tactics. I saved thousands on the rug I wanted, and the entire buying experience couldn't have been more pleasant. Do yourself a favor and check out Sarkisian's before you buy a rug in Denver!

Sarkisian's can't be beat! I found James to be helpful, informative and inspiring given his respect for the type of work he does. Their prices are actually the best around too. They cleaned my large Antique Kerman rug and I was thrilled with the results. Highly recommend this shop. This is the type of customer service every place should have! Bravo!

After writing this review Medill Sarkisian contacted me. He was very apologetic and professional. They offered to fix my swords or refund my money for them. In the end I did return the swords for a refund as I didn't want to hold onto a sour note for this company. I sent the swords back and to my surprise they sent me a check with an addition amount of money for the shipping cost from my original order.
This was not necessary or expected and shows they have integrity. Tor sent a very professional apology letter with the check as well. I will say I will purchase from this company again and I believe they have great antiques and seem very knowledgeable. I want to publicly apologies to Medill for the delay in writing an updated review. I tried once I received the check but didn't know how to edit my review and got busy. If you're in the Denver area swing in and see what the have.

I was shopping for Oriental rugs for my new home. The assortment of rugs at this store and warehouse were more extensive than we ever imagined. It was overwhelming to sort through the options. Medill, one of the owners, was very helpful in sorting out various rugs for us to consider. They delivered 6 rugs to our home for us to review and left two for us to live with for over a week.
They brought back others when we changed our minds and were very accommodating. When we selected two rugs to keep, they trimmed the fringe and cleaned both rugs, as they had been stored at the warehouse for a long time and needed refreshing. They also determined the correct type of pads needed to keep the rugs in place safely on our wood floors. We were very pleased with Medill, James and Travis who made multiple trips to our home and made sure we were happy with their products and services.
I would recommend their shops for rugs and also imported furniture and accessories from all over the world, mostly with Far Eastern-influence. I was shocked by another review which did not have a good experience with rug cleaning because this was completely the opposite experience that we encountered.

I took in my vintage Armenian Rug that had been rolled, unrolled and moved so many times I lost track.and then I got puppies! Needless to say the rug, which is very special as I bought it while in Armenia, needed some serious TLC. The folks at Sarkisian's were attentive and educational to say the least. They also matched a competitor's price on the cleaning, so that was cool.
Then I had some fringe spots that were (I thought) ruined thanks to said puppies:( Turns out their repair specialist not only fixed it to perfection, but the price was very reasonable as well! I would recommend to others and I will certainly use them again for their wash and repair services.and of course the next time I shop for a rug!

I had the opportunity to interact with this store and staff and came away extremely impressed with the quality of their customer service and their integrity. In their counsel to me, they were clearly very ethical and technically astute. Their responsiveness to my subsequent inquiries were responded to quickly and thoroughly. Great people to work with.

WOW, I'M impressed! I have Persian carpets that have been handed down through my family, so I have been nervous about getting them cleaned. I just got my carpet back and it looks fabulous. On top of that, they offer a pick up and delivery service and I thought the total price was VERY reasonable, less than I paid for Coit to do my stairway runner. I highly recommend Sarkisian's!

I went to Sarkisian's with my daughter, who introduced me to it. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted with kindness and given a brief tour. This place is packed with history and beautiful artifacts to include the many oriental rugs. I was really impressed with the knowledge that came with each piece that I had asked about. If it were not for prior engagements, we would have stayed in the store all day.
Everyone in the store was extremely polite. We were treated with nothing but respect. If you need your rug cleaned or if you are looking to collect or sell an antique, I highly recommend Sarkisian's.

I consigned my Fine antiques with Sarkisian's about a year and half ago, I couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism of the managers and the employees. I had some fine rugs I also got cleaned through Sarkisian's before putting them on consignment and WOW they turned out gorgeous, the color just popped. The store is set up so beautifully and they have so many museum quality pieces, I love walking around seeing and admiring such craftsmanship. I would definitely take the rest of my antiques to Sarkisian's to sell. Thanks Guys

I have taken my fine oriental rugs to be cleaned and repaired by Sarkisians for many many years now and have to say they do an excellent job each and every time. They always treat me with great respect, kindness, and honesty. I highly recommend taking all your rug issues to this business. As well, they are a great place to shop for a rug or decorative artifacts for your home

BEWARE! Do not take your fine rugs to this business. They will destroy it. I have never encountered a more unprofessional business in my life. These people are the most negligent, incompetent, and careless, business owners I've had the displeasure of dealing with. There are two owners of this business, and they are brothers. One is named Tor and the other is named Medill.
The rug was dropped off on 6/3/17 with Medill. I was told that it would take 10-14 days to complete the entire washing process. It ended taking two full months. It was finally ready to be picked up on 8/5/17. On 8/5/17, when I went to pick up the rug, they laid it out on a very filthy ground. I was shocked and disturbed at the damage they caused. This company completely destroyed my fine heirloom rug and it will cost me quite a bit of money to repair the damage.
Not only that, but the fringe that was beige in color was now red. Trust me when I tell you that these people have absolutely no business being in this line of work. They are reckless and negligent and do not care about your rug once they have it in their possession. The sad part is that they make you sign a damage waiver so whatever happens while your expensive rug is in their possession, they can't be held responsible.
This rug has been in my family for 70 years. And in that time, the rug has been kept in excellent condition. It has been washed by other rug cleaning professionals over the years and I have never had this sort of issue come up. EVER! But I guess that's what separates a professional from a hack like Sarkisian's. That day I went to pick my rug up, I tried explaining to James, the guy who washed the rug, that it did not have that damage when I dropped off the rug.
As soon as I said that, the guy bombarded me with canned excuses for 45 minutes. He barely gave me an opportunity to speak or make my case. He just kept repeating the canned excuses. When he realized that he was not going to convince me of that lie, he proceeded to use a different excuse. He then called the owner that day-Tor. I've only spoken to Tor a couple of times over the phone but that was the first time I met him. Tor came by from his other location and before I was even given the opportunity to speak or make my case, he proceeds to just bulldoze and bombard me and was trying to feed me the same excuses that James kept repeating.
It was apparent that in these types of situations they have several canned excuses ready to go. They both then gang up on me and would not give me the opportunity to speak let alone state my case. My question is how does someone just come into a situation, not knowing what's going on or what my complaint is, and just start blasting me with excuses?
It was apparent that this is just how they conduct business. Both James, the carpet cleaner and Tor were extremely condescending and patronizing and they refused to take responsibility. Tor was extremely belligerent, rude, combative from the get-go and it was clear that he has zero respect for women or his customer. I could hardly get a word in edgewise as they both surrounded me and ganged up on me.
At one point, I decided to leave because the disrespect started getting worse. It was clear that they were not going to take any responsibility whatsoever. The unprofessionalism of this business has left me speechless. I have never ever had the heart to leave a bad review for most small business owners because I believe they already have so much going against them.
And believe me, I've encountered a few over the years that would have deserved a bad review, but I've always let them slide. However, this situation was so bad that it warranted me writing a bad review because someone has to hold them accountable. People have to be aware of this business. I would hate for anyone else's fine rugs to get ruined by such blatant disregard/negligence.
Trust me when I tell you that they have absolutely NO IDEA what they are doing despite making the claim that they have been in business for 50+ years. When I walked in that day to pick up my rug, James and a young kid he was training were washing two rugs side by side. One was light in color (ivory), and the other one was a bright red color and it was bleeding quite a bit.
That red filled water passed through the other light-colored rug next to it. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would not do that. It demonstrated how negligent and careless this company can be. My understanding is that the father owned the business and when he retired, he handed it off to his two sons and it is clear that they have no respect for the business, women, or people's property.
Stay far far away! These guys are crooks. You've been warned. Lastly, I would highly advise that anyone who plans to take their rug for a cleaning, to learn from my experience and photograph your rug before dropping it off anywhere.

I had a rug that needed cleaning fast as I had house guests coming to stay with us. They answered the phone shortly after they had technically closed for the day and still let me come in to drop it off. They processed it as a rush order without charging extra. And they couldn't have been nicer! I got my rug back just in time for my guests arrival. Amazing customer service!

Do not be fooled by the rug cleaning category listed as of 1/25/10 (requested it to be updated to include antiques- they also specialize in antique rug cleaning/restoration). Specializing in Asian antiques and reproductions, you can find an assortment interior decor and the occasional bit of hardware. You may need to be buzzed in. Parking in lot accessible from Spear or Washington St.
While I adore the items to be found, here, be aware that the prices are not entirely reflective of quality or authenticity. Owners are incredibly knowledgeable and can source hard to find Asian pieces.
